The Lies We Tell

Hey guys! Welcome Back for another blog post. Here’s a reality, for most of us if not all, we have told a lie or two or more than two in our lives to get out of situations or to have people believe us. But what happens when the lies that we have told begin to shape our reality? Our lives can begin to be destroyed from the lies we tell others. For you to completely understand this post, you first have to understand what a lie is. Anything that withholds the entire truth is a lie. For example, Abraham lied about Sarah being his wife. Remember, He told the king that Sarah was his sister and even requested that Sarah go along with the lie. Now because of God’s grace, mercy, and love for us, Abraham did not get into trouble but left with riches instead. Now, can you imagine what the situation would of been like if Abraham was not a friend of God? He would of been executed for his lie. Our fear can lead us to tell lies and it was Abraham’s fear of death that led him to lie. Most of us have these fears where we do not want to disappoint those around us, we do not want to admit our faults, or it is too hard to bear that we are actually worst off than we thought. We lie to stop these items from happening. However, when you tell the lie you just gave the enemy the right to enter in your relationships, conversations, and even your home. The devil has a right to enter in because you are not following God’s word. God is strategic and, in many times, all He wants to do is protect us from evil. However, not following His word and repenting allows the devil to enter in. Now the real question is how do I repent. 1 John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (NIV). The word confess in Hebrew means to make know. This means confessing to the person/s of the lie, asking God and them to forgive you, and try to be honest going forward. In many occasions, telling the lie is worst off than just being honest with the person. Lying shapes our world because the bible tells us in Matthew 12 that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So if you are a person constantly speaking lies about your family, friends, or even keeping things from those you love then what kind of world are you shaping? If you constantly have to lie then you are not trustworthy, confident, or even forgiving. If you bare any of these traits, then how can God trust you? Are you confident in the things of God? How can God forgive you if you are not forgiving? These ways and many others are how the lies we tell shape our worlds. The devil already has a job to do so do not allow the things that come out of your mouth stop God from moving on your behave. The goal is receiving everything that God has for you but if you are not trustworthy then how can you receive. God cannot trust you. Some of us sit and wonder why our lives are not progressing the way God has spoken or even towards our hearts desire. Could it be the lies that you have told has stopped God from speaking to you and tied God’s hands from moving on your behind. Come on guys, the reality is some of us boost up everything we have in life from the amount of money we have to the type of lifestyle we are truly living. But there is something about your truth that God uses for His glory. There’s a saying that I would always tell my associates when I was working and it was change your mindset, change your life. But this saying came from the bible in Romans 12:2 and it states And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (KJV). Can you imagine what your life can be like doing the will of God? God, we thank you today for your will that is on our lives. God, we come repenting of our lying sin and we ask for forgiveness. God, we pray that you keep us honest. God, create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. God, we pray Psalms 51 over us right now. We thank you that you can forgive our sins because of Jesus Christ, Amen. Tune in next week for the blog, Cleansing, where I explain the growth patterns we go through when you are actively pursuing God. Love you guys and see you next week.
