Cleansing

Cleansing is an honest part of everyone’s spiritual journey with God. It is a process where God will begin to remove old things out of your life to prepare you for new. Many times, we pray, and we ask for more of Him. The reality is that more of Him and less of you means that old habits and the people that you did those habits with have to go as well. We have seen in the Bible countless times that people have to leave home in order to fully follow God. Look at Father Abraham and even Peter, both had to leave things behind to follow God. A lot of times, including myself, we do not realize how many things or people have hindered us from truly walking with God. The bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 3:18 that “And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit” (AMP), which means there are levels in God. With each level, some people cannot join you and God will sever relationships. The unfortunate part of us is we try to hold on to relationships that God is trying to tear apart so we can grow. For example and I believe I’ve told this story before that in January of 2021, God told me that my husband would be here this year. As the year progressed, there was no husband and I was dating several guys so I decided and the key word is “I.” I decided that the guy that I had been seeing on and off for two years was the guy I needed to put all my time in and prepare for marriage. Fortunately, this was not God’s plan and before he could even place my now husband into my life, He had to remove any old distractions that would cause me not to do His will. I am in bed one night, and the guy and I are texting, when he all of a sudden breaks up with me. That heartache allowed God to enter in, repair me, and send me exactly who He had for me. It’s sometimes hard to truly believe that “All things work together for our good” especially when you are in the middle of your battles but I assure you that in the end it does. Those heart breaking and soul killing moments are used so God can show up in your life strong and He can be glorified. A lot of times we pray, Oh God use me for your glory, I want to be your miracle but the reality sometimes is hard to fathom. Over the years and even now in my marriage, I have come to learn that the more chaos, pain, and difficulty that you experience is the more God will glorify Himself through your life. We just have to remember that when we receive from God, it is on time but His time and it is sent to make a difference. God will receive His glory. Everyone’s cleansing process is different. Some people will stop things willingly and some people have to be broken completely so God can heal them. Remember, Jesus says in Luke 4:18, “He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted” (KJV). God loves the brokenhearted; those in need of deliverance. God cannot come in if you believe that you are perfect and in no need for help or salvation. That’s why I stated above that sometimes it is easier for some to walk away willingly and while others require a complete breaking process. No matter where you are, God hears your heart and He knows your thoughts and He knows exactly where you are. Remember, if I ascend into Heaven, thou art there and if I descend into hell, thou art there. Each level in your cleansing process is to teach you, deliver you, and draw you closer to God even in your chaos and especially in your heartbreak. Father, we thank you today for our cleansing. Father, we know that you know what is best for us. Father, we know you will not give us more than we can bear. Father, we ask that you give us the grace in each level of cleansing. We want to be more like you, In Jesus Name. Tune in next week for the blog, “Forsaken,” where we discuss Jesus and how are lives can replay like his walk. Love you guys and see you next week.
